Google が公開日に一斉にあれだけ大量のパートナーを集めたり YouTube のビデオを全部 WebM にすると発表した理由はこれです。つまり、このコーデックはほぼ確実にインターネットにおけるビデオの主流になる。下手な訴訟を起こして今後十数年 VP8 が使えなくなるか、黙ってフリーでこれを使うか、どちらが賢いかを決めるのは難しい。
